Here’s what our customers say…

  • I have been attending Nick at this clinic for a few months following a diagnosis of post tibial tendon injury. I was provided with an orthotic and advised to wear it every day. I was set up on a plan of daily exercises and advised about footwear. The exercise plan has changed after each appointment to become a little more challenging. This felt a bit onerous at first but I soon found the benefits. There has been steady improvement and Nick’s prediction that I would be able to resume previous activities eg walking group is now being realised. This week I walked 5 miles and just experienced a few twinges the following day. I have also found the advice re footwear very helpful. I have always felt confident about the treatment and advice that Nick gave. He has always answered all my questions simply and clearly and this has enabled me to understand the nature of the injury and steps I can take not to exacerbate the problem. Altogether a very positive experience.

  • I’ve been coming to see Nick since 2014 after my first marathon as I was getting bad foot/toe pain. He has kept me going for the last 4 years and I’ve just completed my 10th marathon. It is not an overstatement to say I would not be running now without all his help and expertise.

  • Having been running for about 6 months and really improving on pace and distance, and after a number of very muddy trails and 20 mile road race I was suddenly struck with excruciating knee pain, and no matter how much I rested it, after about 20 minutes of running it would return.

Nick was recommended to me by my physio and after two sessions I am back out running – and just completed 30 miles at Endure 24…with no knee pain!!

I have found Nick to be friendly and knowledgeable, and he diagnosed my problems very quickly and accurately. My running was videoed and he was able to explain to me the biomechanical problems my running style was causing. With this in mind I ordered some recommended orthoses, and took away some handy tips to improve on my running technique.

Once the orthoses had arrived and I fitted them into a brand of trainer that Nick thought would be perfect for me, I was back out on the road running pain free!

In between our sessions we have been in contact by e-mail when Nick was more than willing to answer any queries that I had, and I have now come away with a deeper insight into my running style, the issues I have, and more importantly what to do to prevent further injury. Thanks to Nick’s help my 4 months of pain and no running have come to an end.

  • Six weeks before the Reading half marathon I went to Nick Knight for gait analysis and help with pre-existing hamstring and toe problems. These injuries had already ruined 4 weeks of training.

Nick advised some specific changes to my running style and a range of strength and conditioning exercises. After 3 weeks of Nick’s training advice I knocked 4 minutes of my personal best half marathon time.

  • I was very grateful for his care and advice at the time I was awaiting an operation as it meant I could continue to walk relatively pain free.

Nick took the time to address all my worries and find an effective solution for me with his custom orthotics that enabled me to walk in shoes and sandals again without the severe pain I was experiencing. I was very grateful for his care and advice at the time I was awaiting an operation as it meant I could continue to walk relatively pain free.

  • I was suffering acute pain in one foot it was stopping me walking the dog without real plain and causing me to consider whether I could manage the activities I loved on holidays……I’d had my GP poke and prod to no particular effect and prescribe high dose Ibuprofen to manage the pain from my foot…… and to come back if there was no progress. I even had 2 or 3 lay “experts” diagnose “Policeman’s Foot” – they used the Latin name because they probably thought it made them sound more expert and they knew all about this stuff because they trained for Triathlon!….. Then I bit the private treatment bullet saw Nick.

I chose Nick because of his sports focus – as despite my age of 69 I walk at least 5 miles a day and am really active in a number of competitive sports. So after an amazingly thorough examination of knee action and hip rotation and a video of me walking on a treadmill and some very precise poking and prodding right on the site of the pain… I got a proper diagnosis and an explanation of cause, prognosis and treatment routes. He constructed a temporary orthotic in the insole of my walking boot and I’m still using this daily. Getting this acute pain resolved has changed my life considerably for the better.

  • I am a Specialist Physiotherapist and Clinical Consultant for a leading insurance brand. I first worked with Nick as a junior in the NHS. I’ve always been a great believer in putting yourself in the greatest biomechanical position to perform. As an ex-semi pro footballer and cricketer with a small successful background in triathlon I also fully understand the needs of the modern athlete.

Nick’s musculoskeletal podiatry expertise have provided care and rehabilitation for myself and a number of my patients. Nick provides a thorough and detailed assessment and follows this with evidence based care. I’ve seen first-hand the benefit of Nick’s input. Now as a private clinician myself I still utilise Nick’s services for any podiatry input my patients require.

Nick’s skills lead him to recently be involved as a Sports Medicine Clinician at the Paralympic games, what more testimony could you need?

  • I was seen promptly by an expert who gave me a full examination and a treatment/exercise programme. Exactly what I wanted

    1) Nick clearly knows his subject, so that immediately gave me confidence
    2) Most importantly he is an excellent communicator and that is THE most important thing in his line of business.
    3) If he works with Mr Calder he must be good at his job
    4) I wouldn’t have paid so much money for the orthotics if I didn’t believe Nick knew what he was doing
    5) Being a Portsmouth supporter also helped!

  • Overall, it was a very good experience and I’m very happy with the outcome. I am walking/running a lot better now and without any pain. Posture is also improved. And finally my hamstrings seem to be slackening off (only just and there is still some way to go!).

  • I am very happy with the result as my mobility health is so greatly improved.

  • I also have reached a point where Nick doesn’t think I need to pursue any specialised orthotics, and off the shelf variants or stability shoes do the job just fine.

  • Very friendly and very informative, felt reassured following initial assessment that the precise problem had been identified and a comprehensive treatment plan put in place Thank you

  • I am very happy to wholeheartedly recommend Nick Knight Sports Podiatry.

After three months and three NHS appointments with a painfully swollen second metatarsal it was Nick Knight who with confidence diagnosed the plantar plate injury that I was suffering from.

Within two weeks the swelling was significantly reduced and I was beginning to walk normally again. Six weeks later and I was even beginning to do some light running again. None of this seems likely without Nick Knight’s advice and intervention. Just about to set off for a walking holiday in France none of which would be possible without Nick’s advice and treatment. I am very grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend his services.

  • Steven was completely brilliant and although i will be booking in for the full package for feb, should i ever have any issues again i will come to you guys as my first option as the level of communication, support and thorough detail in terms of running that your team provided was by far the best i have ever experienced.
