It is best to come and see us when you first start to feel pain, otherwise the issue can get worse resulting in a longer period of rehabilitation before return to activity.
Here at NK Podiatry we use Pressure Analysis to help diagnose the cause of your foot pain. It’s a high-tech pressure mat that captures 100 pressure images per second, it allows us to examine the plantar pressure through your feet when standing and in motion throughout the gait cycle.
The pressure mat has three types of analysis:
This examines your balance (Proprioception) when standing and using this we can see if it’s the root cause of your injury or is a consequence of an injury and how we can improve your balance.
This shows the pressure distribution between the left and right foot and then the forefront and rear foot while motion-less. This is useful in looking at leg length discrepancies and particular high area of pressure, which could be a site of corns or callus formation.
The dynamic scan looks at you walking and how the foot loads whilst walking, looking at timings and comparing left to right. This can show an early heel lift or increased pressure in a particular area of the foot.
Here at NK Podiatry we can offer a range of orthoses, from modified ‘off the shelf’, to fully bespoke, to suit any need and problem. Remember, orthoses are not always needed for life and can be a simple tool, to help you get back to your activity. The shoe is as important as the orthosis and we can tailor orthoses to fit different shoes.
We are keen to break the myths around orthoses (take a look at our blog here) [brad can we link the advice centre and the part 1-3 on orthoses]
Modified off the shelf
These can be a quick and simple way to help you on your way to recovery. They can be useful as a short term device and often, can be issued during your appointment.
Semi-bespoke orthoses These are a great option, allowing more modifications to help achieve the right prescription for you. They tend to be longer lasting and slimmer in design compared to off the self orthoses.
Fully bespoke orthoses are completely tailored to your needs and shoes, creating orthoses for your weight, helping us arrive at the right prescription for you. These can be refurbished and prescription adapted over the years if required. We can also offer bespoke sandals for the summer months, so you always have your orthoses with you.
